Special Session 5: Energy System Optimization, Smart/Micro Grid Systemsn

In recent years, the global energy landscape has been undergoing a rapid transformation driven by the integration of renewable energy sources, the decentralization of energy systems, and the urgent need for sustainability and resilience. Within this context, Energy System Optimization and the development of Smart and Micro Grids have emerged as critical areas of research and innovation.
This special session aims to bring together researchers, engineers, and industry professionals to discuss the latest advances, challenges, and solutions in optimizing complex energy systems and designing intelligent grid infrastructures. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

• Optimization techniques for energy production, distribution, and consumption
• Modeling and control strategies for smart grids and microgrids
• Integration of renewable energy sources and storage systems
• Real-time energy management and demand response
• AI and machine learning applications in grid operation and forecasting
• Cybersecurity and reliability in distributed energy systems
• Economic and policy considerations in smart grid deployment

By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, this session seeks to highlight novel methodologies and case studies that demonstrate how smart grid technologies and optimization strategies can contribute to a more sustainable, efficient, and secure energy future.
We welcome both theoretical contributions and practical applications that address current challenges and point toward future directions in this dynamic field.
